AssetView Ends March 2026: Transition to Next-Generation Risk Surface Management
Qualys is evolving your asset management capabilities to help your organization gain full visibility, prioritize risk, and act on what matters most. This next-generation approach supports the Risk Operations Center (ROC) framework, allowing you to measure, communicate, and reduce risk with business impact in mind.
In 2021, Qualys introduced CyberSecurity Asset Management (CSAM)—a next-generation solution designed to give organizations complete visibility and control over their attack surface. CSAM enriches asset inventory with deep security context, enabling proactive risk reduction, tighter IT & security collaboration, and business-impact-based prioritization.
After nearly a decade of service, AssetView will be retired in March 2026. With more than 90% of customers already fully migrated, now is the time for remaining users to upgrade to CSAM or switch to Global AssetView (GAV) – included with your VMDR subscription – so you can stay ahead of modern cybersecurity challenges.
The Evolution of Asset Management at Qualys
As part of this evolution, customers will transition from AssetView to:
- Global AssetView (GAV) – Included with your VMDR subscription, providing essential asset tracking with a refreshed interface. No action required.
- CyberSecurity Asset Management (CSAM) – Recommended upgrade. Delivers unified visibility, risk-based prioritization, and External Attack Surface Management (EASM). Positions your organization to adopt Enterprise TruRisk Management (ETM) and a ROC.
- Enterprise TruRisk Management (ETM) – Full platform to operationalize your ROC, connecting risk to business impact. CSAM is included in ETM.
In short: GAV is the direct replacement, CSAM upgrade is strongly recommended, ETM is the complete risk management solution.
Why Upgrade Beyond AssetView?
Modern attack surfaces are complex. CSAM provide capabilities far beyond AssetView:
- Unified visibility across IT, OT, IoT, cloud, and multi-cloud assets
- External Attack Surface Management (EASM) for internet-facing exposures
- Risk-based prioritization using TruRisk™, asset criticality, and business context
- Proactive EOL/EOS detection to reduce tech debt risk
- Policy-driven monitoring of security gaps
- Compliance reports and automated alerts
- Bi-directional CMDB integration for coordinated IT & security response
Adopting CSAM is the first step toward building a Risk Operations Center (ROC)—a framework to continuously manage your exposure and reduce business risks that matter most.
ETM is the full platform that operationalizes your ROC, enabling organizations with:
- Unified Asset Management – Gain comprehensive visibility across external and internal attack surfaces – cloud, containers, SaaS, identity, code, and more—with integrated business context. Map technical assets to business entities with criticality and associated risks.
- TruRisk: Business-Centric Quantification – Aggregate siloed exposures across your security tooling to measure and visualize risk in business value. Re-prioritize exposures, track SLAs, and customize risk based on environmental and mitigation factors.
- Adversary-Based Risk Prioritization – Stay ahead of trending threats in your industry with TruLens, providing visibility into risk prioritization and reduction plans for emerging threats
- Specialized Cyber Risk Views – Visibility across emerging attack surfaces, including identity security posture, post-quantum readiness, and database risk, eliminating siloed analysis.
- Ready-to-Use Cyber Risk Agents – Use specialized Agentic AI agents that drive risk management autonomously from discovery to remediation.
- Cyber Risk Assistant – Leverage the Qualys Cyber TruRisk Assistant for prompt-driven, contextual risk insights aggregated across millions of exposures.
Together, these capabilities allow organizations to measure, communicate, and reduce risk that matters most, making ETM the comprehensive solution to operationalize a modern ROC.
