Normalization of Sensor Version Numbering in Qualys Container Security Release 1.46
Overview
With the 1.46 release, we are introducing a unified versioning format across all Qualys Container Security sensors. This enhancement brings every sensor onto a single, common versioning scheme, making it easier than ever to identify sensor versions, track releases, and plan upgrades. The standardized, predictable versioning model gives you a simpler and more consistent experience across your container security deployments.
Affected Components
The version normalization applies to the following sensors:
- General, Registry Sensor (QcsSensor) – Docker Hub
- Cluster Sensor – Docker Hub
- Runtime Sensor – Docker Hub
- Admission Controller Sensor – Docker Hub
What Is Changing
- Unified versioning – Starting with the 1.46 release, all sensors listed above share the common versioning format used by Qualys Container Security, giving you one consistent way to read versions across sensors.
- Helm chart alignment – Subsequent Helm charts will also reflect the new version of the respective sensors, keeping chart versions and sensor versions aligned for smoother upgrades.
- No functional impact – This is a versioning enhancement only. Your sensors continue to deliver the same functionality, behavior, and scan coverage.
Impact
- Your deployed sensors continue to operate normally, with no action required.
- If you track sensor versions in automation or documentation, you can now align them with a single, consistent versioning format.
Recommended Action
- Review any scripts, automation, or internal documentation that reference sensor-specific version numbers and align them with the new common versioning format.
- When upgrading via Helm, use the updated Helm charts released with 1.46 or later to pick up the normalized sensor versions.
