Ubuntu Kernel QID Enhancements Release Announcement

Update:

During our testing phase for implementing this change, we identified a regression issue. In the light of these findings and to ensure the utmost reliability, we have postponed the release initially scheduled for October 30th, 2023. The new expected release window is set for mid-November 2023. As we approach the rescheduled date, we will issue another notification with the exact release date and any other relevant information. Updates to QIDs would be rolled out in a phased manner starting with latest QIDs.

Original Notification

Canonical provides Cloud-optimized Linux kernels. Building on this, Qualys will release enhancements to the Ubuntu Kernel QIDs tailored for cloud platforms on Oct 30, 2023.  

With this update: 

  • Approximately 15% of the current Ubuntu QIDs will be affected. 
  • These changes will impact customers scanning Ubuntu Cloud instances. 

As a result of these enhancements, you may notice increased findings in your environment.
